The parade starts at 1 p.m. at Plainfield Central High School on Fort Beggs Drive.

Road closings will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, as DesPlaines Street south of Lockport Street closes to allow for tent set-up. Parade staging and line-up will start at around 11 a.m. Sunday at Plainfield Central High School.

At 5:30 a.m. Sunday:

  • Crowd barriers and traffic barricades will be pre-positioned in the downtown area along Lockport Street, James Street, Illinois Street and Commercial Street.
  • Parking along these same streets will be restricted. Vehicles that remain within the parade route will be towed at the owners’ expense after 11 a.m.

Starting at 12:30 p.m. Sunday the following road closures will be in place:

  • James Street from Fort Beggs Drive to Lockport Street
  • Lockport Street from Main Street (Route 126) to Route 59
  • Illinois Street from Lockport Street to Commercial Street
  • Commercial Street from Illinois Street to James Street
  • Chicago Street from Illinois Street to Fox River Street
  • Ottawa Street from Illinois Street to James Street
  • DesPlaines Street from Oak Street to Ottawa Street
  • Fox River Street from Lockport Street to Commercial Street

Most streets will reopen as soon as the parade has cleared the area at around 2:30 p.m., police said. DesPlaines Street will remain closed from Lockport to Chicago Street for post-parade festivities until 6 p.m.

There will be no lane closures on Route 59, but drivers should expect backups and delays on Sunday, according to police.

No parking will be allowed on the parade route starting at 6 a.m. Sunday until the parade ends.

Parade parking areas have been designated at Plainfield Central High School, and the village municipal lots on DesPlaines Street (across from the old Plainfield Fire Protection District fire station), and Illinois Street (next to the library). Handicapped parking will be accessible across the street from the old Plainfield Fire Protection District fire station, 15025 S. DesPlaines Street, and also accessible on the north side of Chicago Street between Illinois Street and DesPlaines Street.
